Water to Table
The educational and cultural extension of Safer Catch. The 4Cs — Check, Choose, Clean, Create — turn advisory information into practice for families, anglers, cooks, educators, and healthcare providers.
The 4 Cs
A complete system — check advisories, choose smarter, clean properly, and create with confidence.
Cleaning, trimming, and cooking do not remove all contaminants. Mercury stays in the muscle; some fat-associated contaminants may be reduced by removing skin and fat. The advisory is always the primary guide.
Check
Know before you eat.
Check the water, the advisory, the species, and the source before eating sport-caught fish. State, tribal, and federal advisories are free, updated on each agency's schedule, and tell you how often each species from specific waters is recommended for each population group.
Step by Step
- 1Find your state's official fish advisory (link from our map)
- 2Look up your specific waterbody or county
- 3Check the species you caught
- 4Note guidance for your household — especially children and pregnant individuals
- 5Bookmark your state's advisory page for future trips
Why This Matters
Official advisories are the source of truth. Fish-consumption advisories may draw on fish-tissue monitoring, environmental data, toxicological risk assessment, statewide guidance, and other evidence evaluated by the responsible agency.

Translate Chemistry into Confidence
Every design decision on this platform supports one question: Can I confidently feed this fish to the people I care about?
